The Regional Director of School Based Behavioral Health Services (RDSBBHS) works closely with the School Based Health leadership team in supporting providers and the clinical operations of School Based Behavioral Health Services. The RDSBHS works as an advocate for the school based Behavioral Health providers and a liaison between providers, the School Based and CHC leadership teams in addition to the school/district administrative teams.
The RDSBBHS, in consultation and with the support of the School Based Health leadership team, Chief Behavioral Health Officer of CHC and other designated behavioral health leaders, works to address and correct any problems with clinical performance that are identified. The RDSBBHS works collaboratively with the ancillary staff to achieve the aim of providing safe and effective clinical services and works closely with the CHC leadership to develop, train and monitor compliance with CHC role-based policies.
Qualifications, Appointment and Term of Service: Any member of the School Based Behavioral Health staff of the Community Health Center in good standing for a minimum of one year is eligible for appointment as a RDSBBHS. The Chief Behavioral Health Officer and The Director of School Based Health Services of CHC will review the performance of the RDSBBHS on a periodic basis, no less than biannually. Either party may terminate the assignment, without cause, with three months’ notice.
Functions of the Regional Director of School Based Behavioral Health Services:
Together with the School Based Health leadership team provides clinical support, training and assessment of clinical staff of the assigned region and provides ongoing clinical patient care. The RDSBBHS will work with the Chief Behavioral Health Officer in clinical supervision including:
Reviews clinical outcome metrics for their department and takes responsibility, working with the, CHC on-site Behavioral Health Directors and the Chief Behavioral Health Officer of CHC, to identify and achieve clinical outcome goals.
Provides leadership and supervision in developing and carrying out behavioral health quality assurance activities at the sites; both specific to the site and in collaboration with the appropriate committees of CHC.
Ensures that the behavioral health SBHC staff) adhere to all policies and procedures necessary for CHC to obtain on-going licensure by the Connecticut DPH and certification by Joint Commission and other compliance and regulatory agencies.
Works with the School Based leadership team in development of site-specific strategic plans for new services and programs and modifications of existing services.
Meets regularly with School Based leadership team at least monthly and with the members of CHC leadership to discuss both agency-wide and department-specific issues.
Provides guidance and leadership in identification and resolution of problems/barriers that impede effective and efficient quality patient care.
